Protector announced today that they have entered into a collaboration with Mavera, a Verisk business, to enhance its personal injury claims management process using newly developed AI functionality. This partnership aligns perfectly with Protector’s IT strategy, which aims to automate tasks that do not require manual handling. The strategy, called “Efficiency through Innovation,” reflects the company’s commitment to leveraging technology for operational excellence.

Louise Bohman, Head of personal injury claims at Protector, comments:

"We are constantly looking for ways to streamline the non-value-adding parts of our workflow. This allows us to dedicate more time and energy to what matters most: maintaining good dialogue with our policyholders and claimants. In personal injury claims, there is a lot of ‘low-hanging fruit,’ as administrative work tends to consume a significant amount of time."

Johan Larsson, Chief Product Officer at Mavera, adds:

"We speak with companies across the industry every day and are seeing a rapidly growing curiosity and openness toward AI everywhere. AI will become a natural part of all organizations in the future, and it’s exciting to see Protector moving quickly in this direction. We have a strong collaboration and share a similar mindset."

As a company striving to position itself as a challenger in the industry, Protector quickly realized the need to seek external expertise to harness AI’s potential. So why did they choose Mavera?

Louise explains:

"When we decided to move forward with this initiative, it was natural for us to turn to Mavera, as they have been a trusted partner for several years. It felt like an obvious choice to embark on this journey together. During implementation, we have maintained close contact, and we’ve appreciated having the opportunity to provide input along the way."

Johan adds another perspective:

"Universum recently released its latest report on industry attractiveness for potential employees. The insurance industry ranked quite low, and I believe that the ability to offer modern work tools, like AI, will play a crucial role in attracting the right talent moving forward."

Louise agrees:

"Mavera DSS is very easy to use, regardless of technical background, which makes daily work much smoother for us."

Protector utilizes the Mavera Decision Support System (DSS), which includes several AI-driven features. These include an AI-generated timeline of all events in a case, ID verification to automatically ensure that all documents belong to the correct claimant, and support for claim handlers to independently manage simpler cases without the need for medical advisory input. With the help of AI, Mavera DSS can significantly reduce handling time and improve the quality of personal injury claims management.
